Dogs Who Have Found Homes

Cheyenne - Sweet and loving 2 1/2 year old male.  Was regretfully surrendered by his previous owner due to divorce and necessary move.

Polly - is 2 1/2 years old.  Spayed female, vaccinated and vet checked and she weighs about 19 lbs.  She can be very sweet and cuddly.  She is housetrained and crate trained.  Polly can be a little nervous of men and needs work on being restrained by the collar.  Meeting strangers also needs some work as she is shy.  Polly would be the perfect for a family with older children that is willing to socialize her and work on touching her feet and all over her body.  She also loves tummy rubs and would walk all over the house on her back legs if it got your attention.

Giles -  Giles is probably an Eskie/Pomeranian cross and is almost 4 months old.  We think that his adult weight could be about 25lb.  He is quite brave and self-confident, and will require an experienced owner who is willing to and has the time to follow up with obedience classes and ongoing socialization exercises to keep his bravery from turning into bossiness.  He is *very* active and loves to play with other dogs.

Jack - (Under assessment)- Jack is about 7,  a big hunk of a guy with a heavy bone structure.  He was a backyard dog but is starting to remember how nice it is to be inside.  He is a little apprehensive until he gets to know you, then is a love.  He'd love someone to snuggle in bed with!
----------
We adopted Jackie a few years back from Andrea who had cleaned him up and then housed him until adoption took place. I just wanted you to know that he is the best thing to happen to us. He came with issues that were a result of a bad owner prior to us. Being an adult when the abuse took place, made it hard for Jack to let go of the fear aggression that he developed. We put him through retraining and hired a behaviorist from the Toronto area, who also worked with the Toronto Zoo and exotic animals, to access him and set a course of action for behavior modification. Jack has come around a lot since then. He's funny, he likes to play, tease, and loves his daily car rides to the parks for walks. He may never be accepting of all strangers, but we didn't get Jack for the extended family and neighborhood; we got him as part of our family. He has his morning cheerios, likes his big comfy leather chair in the rec room and sleeps in my bed at night with his head on the pillow. I hope people looking for a pet consider the adult dogs. They are easy to train, and are very accepting of a new owner. They bond quickly when treated with respect and love. I wish much luck in placing those animals now in your care.

Merry Christmas to all. Debra Jackie's mom

(Tundra Photo update Nov 2005...looks happy to me :-)

Tundra - We believe is about 2 - 3 years old and weighs 20 lbs. Now neutered, vaccinated and vet checked. Tundra was a seizure from a neglectful owner's backyard, so we have little history on him. Since he has been in our care, he is an absolute darling. He loves the comforts of home, soft bed, cuddling on the couch. He will let you take chewies from him with no objection, he loves tummy rubs and to be brushed. His soft big eyes melt you every time. He is cratetrained and loves car rides.  His only flaw is that certain people and situations scare him, so any prospective owners will need to be willing to introduce him to new people gradually.  He also requires a secure backyard where he won't be teased or scared by anyone.  We have no history for Tundra with very small children. This very handsome fellow wants someone to continue to give him all the love that he deserves and to finally be a loving house pet, not a decoration in the backyard.  Thank you to Sheila's Pet Grooming in Burlington for getting him cleaned up when he came out of the shelter!

Snowy -  was born March 29/03. She was an owner surrender. They lived in a small townhouse, with two small children and worked all day. She has a very high level of energy. She has a beautiful full coat and is very wiggly about being brushed. She is spayed, vaccinated and vet checked she is a little heavy weighing 22 lbs. Snowy is like the energizer bunny, keeps going and going. She needs a home where she will be given plenty of attention and preferably someone home most of the day. This young energetic girl would be very happy again in a home with children over 5 years old.

Mitzie. Female American Eskimo and approximately 2-3 years old. She can be very affectionate and needs time to trust you.  She has lots of energy and loves to run and play outside, but is usually quiet and calm indoors.  She is crate trained and house trained.  She can be unsure of people she doesn't know initially, men especially.  She gets along with other dogs but can be a little bossy initially, due to her fear of them, but once she becomes friends she loves to play.

Blitz - 4 1/2 mo. old male puppy

Chinook - 2 yr. old female, spayed, very big girl, very bossy with cats, knows lots of tricks.

Sam -  Sam is approx. 4 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and would prefer a home where there are no children or older children. Sam came from one of Misner puppymill raids.  He is not suitable for the first time dog owner and one who is willing to work with him on a couple of training issues. He is very affectionate, crate trained and housetrained.  Sam could be a great dog for the right person. Will you give Sam his forever home. He is a small standard size eskie and weighing about 25 lbs.

Sammy was put down in June 2006 because of a brain tumor.  He spent the last years of his life happy, in a loving home.  Thank you so much Susan!  Sammy was a lucky boy to have known you!

Tatum - Female, Spayed, approx. 1 yr. old, 18 lbs. Tatum will require owners who will work with her strong attitude towards other dogs. She can be very bossy. She is very affectionate to people that she knows and is nervous of strangers. She is crate trained and will need more work on housetraining. She is not a big girl, but has lots of energy. She would do well in a home with another dog that is bigger than her and has experience with dogs. Her new owners should be prepared to attend obedience classes with this dog. We are unsure of this dog's experience with very young children.
